Go Kid Music is Award Winning!

I was thrilled to receive an award last week from PaCC - that's the Parent and Carer's Council in Brighton & Hove. They represent the many families with children who have additional needs and disabilities in our city.

The nomination came from a lovely family of a boy I have sung with for many years as he's grown up and moved through the school I sing at every week. His teachers and support workers found he is a super-fan of my songs! His day is sprinkled with my songs and signed videos which help him learn, give him a sensory break and are great fun.

Here's what they said for the nomination:

"Al is incredibly inclusive for families with special needs. She uses sign language in her educational and fun music videos and songs. She offers discounts for families with Compass Cards.

Al has brought so much joy to our son's life who is autistic, both at school and outside of school through her music and kindness.

Our son loves Al!

Recently he joined Al on stage at one of her gigs for children and families; watching him sing with her brought out so much joy and confidence, it really was a wonderful moment!"

Well, it doesn't get much better than that!

It is the most meaningful and special award I could receive as it's from the people who I make all my music for - you families and your wonderful kids! Even better than a Grammy!

SO a huge thanks to Simone and Paula for nominating me - and to everyone who voted! Thanks PaCC for being here to support families and their children - and for giving people like me, who plod on year after year doing our best, a wonderful feeling of being recognised and valued! Amazing!
